I was away for a few days and came back to find my lettuce large and robust. I cut a bunch this morning that I just enjoyed for lunch. Fresh lettuce is so sweet, tender and delicious. I took leaves off from the outside, rinsed them and made a dressing by adding herbs (oregano, parsley and thyme) to a little olive oil and a splash of balsamic vinegar. Yum.
It is so good. BTW- If the very outside leaves are tough, don’t use them. Go for the tender ones.
A friend emailed and asked me to identify this flower. Do you recognize it? It is Love in a Mist (Nigella), an annual that is light, feathery and a great self-sowing beauty in the garden.
