Great Adirondack Auction Today

Lots and lots of unusual Great Camp and Adirondack style treasures were at the annual Blanchard’s auction at Mt. Pisgah Lodge in Saranac Lake today.

Most of it was very pricey but also very unique. For example, A mosaic twig wall shelf attributed to George Wilson, caretaker to Alfred Vanderbilt at the Sagamore Lodge (circa 1910) went for $21,000.  A desk attributed to him sold for $14,000.

Prices were pretty steep but the event, which is held by the Potsdam auction house in Saranac Lake every August, is worth the trip with so many beautiful items to view such as Tiffany lamps, Stickley furnishings, Thomas Molesworth furniture from the 1930s, Black Forest pieces, original wood carvings, paintings, unusual andirons, wicker and so much more.

Here are some photos from the auction to enjoy.
