Visiting Burlington, Vermont’s Community Gardens

I spent this morning at three of Burlington, Vermont’s 14 municipally operated community gardens.

Visiting other gardens is an education. I’m  learning from their experiences what works and what doesn’t and intend to incorporate this knowledge at our gardens as we grow.

Today, I walked away with ideas for managing compost on a large scale, teaching opportunities, maintaining perennial pollinator beds, and managing scholarships to reach a diverse group of gardeners.

I also saw first hand how different gardening spaces develop “personalities” reflective of who the gardeners are.

It was a beautiful morning well spent.
