Black locust for Raised Beds and Plots Delivered and Stacked

Thank you to the volunteers who came to the Pitney Meadows Community Farm on Saturday afternoon to stack the black locust wood that will shortly be transformed into the sides of community gardens plots and raised beds.

The wood was purchased from Tom Downs , a.k.a Firewood Tom, out of Broadalbin, NY.

Black locust wood is chosen because it is extremely durable and will last for many years. It didn’t take long for the volunteers to carry the load from the driveway into the barn. Thank you to Alexis K., Jon and Mary E., Jim G., George W., Nora C., Heather V. and Rich T.

Very soon, we will start building beds.
